ODE TO NEW YORK
This is my editors love letter.
I’ve never doubted it - I was meant to be born and raised in New York.
It isn’t just a place I live, its the rhythm underneath everything I make, the constant input. The friction, the movement, the noise, the quiet between it all. This is the heart - and the soul - of my brain food.
This isn’t the New York that gets broadcast. Not the skyline, not the spectacle. It’s the in-between moments. The ones you almost miss if you’re not paying attention.
A child gripping their mothers arm mid-crosswalk. The rush of air as the train barrels into the station, catching you hair in it. A bodega cat watching the street it guards. Messages from nights past left behind in a bar bathroom. The sun hitting a building just right and turning it into something else entirely.
Noticing the moments that make New York what it is. The fleeting, the accidental, the deeply human. The kind of moments that don’t announce themselves but stay with you anyway.
While there are other places that fuel me differently, give me distance, give me new perspective - this is the one that built the lens in the first place.
New York is where I learned to see.
